Here’s a photo of Jake. I took it this morning right after I woke up. Jake was sitting on the back porch – just looking up at me. It reminded me of how he treats RT. It’s called “pure adoration.” When RT moves from one room to anothe rinside the house, Jake will practically knock himself out trying to get to the window closest to wherever RT happens to be. Then he will just stand by the window and watch RT’s every move.
RT had to be out of town overnight last night, and I was at the new house by myself – except for Jake. If you’ve read THE MEDIAN SIB very much, you are probably aware that I’m not much of an animal person. I’ve never particularly enjoyed having pets. And Jake has certainly been a challenge at times – especially the first few months after we got him. However, it is very comforting to me to have Jake around when RT isn’t here. He’s an outside dog now. His dog igloo is on the back porch. So I know that if anything is around the outside of the house, Jake will give me a warning. I slept great last night – knowing that Jake was up to the challenge of protecting the house…and me. And this morning, since RT was not around, Jake gave me the attention he usually reserves for RT. Maybe I’m more of a dog person than I thought I was.
Jake has his own Christmas stocking that we will put over the fireplace when we decorate for Christmas. So I’ll be looking for something special to put in his stocking. I’ve looked online to find some things for his stocking… such as a dog feeder, dog carriers, a car seat cover, or a cool new tag.
